Iran’s uncertain intervention in Iraq

The recent lightning victories of the Sunni extremist group the ISIS in Iraq have surprised many Middle Eastern countries. This includes Iran.

My latest article for Al Monitor looks at the short and long term opportunities and threats for Iran.

Iran: Rigged elections and video tapes

I am sure you still remember the 2009 presidential elections in Iran. The one which the opposition said was rigged.

A controversial video has now been leaked in which the head of the Revolutionary Guards confirms that his organization intervened in those elections, because they didn’t like the impending result. So the opposition was right, the 2009 elections were rigged.
